Our President, Helen Dyck, opened the meeting at 7AM after returning from vacation all refreshed.

We were pleased to welcome the following guests:
Casey Reumkens,  Ballenas Interact Club Member, Elise Elston,  Ballenas Interact Cub Member
Courtenay Allen,  Salvation Army, Major Cindy Hamelin,  Salvation Army
Jo Dunn quickly discussed the 2 scholarships we do annually. One scholarship for academic and one for  technical.
Soap for Hope always needs drivers to take the supplies to Victoria. Let Diana know if you are going.
We still have Candied Smoked Salmon available for sale.  SELL< SELL....... Posters are available as well as one will be sent to your email.
Gord Svenson advised December 20th meeting is our gathering when a special visitor arrives. Kids eat free. Also, the 50/50 portion will go to the haven House Society.
SPECIAL EVENT #1:  Helen was very happy to announce we have surpassed $10,000 in our recycling program! For Grace Alexander-Pope’s participation, the club awarded her a PAUL HARRIS Fellowship! Congratulations Grace!!!
For leading the recycling program, DIANA MASTUDA was given her 5th PAUL HARRIS Fellowship by the club. Congratulations and thank you Diana!
A thank you also goes to Arthur Wong from the Beach Club for allowing our club to recycle their bottles and cans!
SPECIAL EVENT #2   Elections. The following were elected:

Our first GUEST speakers today were Casey Reumkens and Elise Elston. Both were sponsored by us for RYLA and they made a presentation of the highlights to thank our club. They learned a lot about leadership and different styles.  Elise is accepted into the LONG TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM in the Qualicum Beach Club.
Our second guest was Courtenay Allen from the Salvation Army.  The army now has a website that includes all their volunteer areas and if you are ringing the bells you can go to the section on kettles and see which time is open. If you login after setting up your account, you can see when you are scheduled. The site is  They need more volunteers in all areas.
No Sergeant at Arms today so Helen asked John O’Brien to fleece the flock which he accomplished.
