Parksville AM Wins International Award!

The Rotary Club of Parksville AM is the recipient of the 2016-17 Floyd and Sandra Olson International Award for its work in the Mexican community of Vicente Guererro!

The Olson Foundation was created in 2006 to honor Floyd and Sandra Olson. In 2011, the Foundation decided to establish an Annual Award to the District 5020 International Club of the Year. The award was intended to both honor the club of the year and to encourage other clubs in international projects either on their own or in partnership with other clubs.

Three clubs are recognized annually with this award, with second place going this year to the Rotary Club of South Cowichan and third to the Rotary Club of Oak Bay.

In the award announcement, the following rationale was provided by the Olson Foundation:
Parksville AM clearly demonstrated that it is the 2016/17 International Club of the Year. It has a record of building on previous efforts, sustainability and measurable outcomes. Additionally, Parksville AM, for a medium size club had an incredible number of members actually visit and participate in a number of projects.

For an overview of the project that led to this award, please see our daily reports from Mexico below.
