Our President, Helen Dyck, opened the meeting this Wednesday morning with 20 Rotarians in attendance.
 
Announcements:
NIWRA is this Saturday for eagle release. Thank you to those who volunteered to help with the parking.
 
RCMP Musical Ride organization is coming along and you are asked to be ready to help where ever you can.  There will not be a reception this year as the officers all have to stay in Nanaimo due to lack of hotel space here.
 
Balenas Interact Club is having agarage sale May 5thand look forward to donations from our members.
 
The Lion’s conference is on April 21 and our club is doing breakfast for them. Thank you to the volunteers.
 
Presentation:
Helen Dyck, our President, received her Paul Harris Fellowship plus one this morning
 
 
The Beach Club presented our club with a cheque for $1,500 from the Uncorked event
 
 
Two Minutes of Rotary:
Lynn Pearson updated the club on the Foundation goals and contributions in this Rotary year:
Annual Fund  - Goal is $6,500 US and we have achieved $5,278 todate
Polio Plus - goal is $1,000 US form members.  To date, we have achieved $3,669 and from the club a $1,000 US goal is yet to be achieved
100% Club Contribution giving – we have 20 members contributing ot the foundation this year 
          
Guest Speaker presentation:
Our guest speaker this morning was none other than our Assistant District Governor, John O’Brien who asked the clubs and members to share ideas on membership growth, development and retention.  John advised the District Conference is happening soon and that the “World” Rotary conference is happening in Toronto this year. 
 
The Russian Business student is arriving in early July and she will be attending various businesses.  Please give her a warm welcome when she attends our club.
 
The Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise has a Rent-A-Flag fundraiser in which you may want to participate in.

Motion:  “It is moved by Steve Alexander-Pope that in recognition of Rotary as a non-religious institution and to embrace inclusivity, that, the Club will refrain from the reading of religious grace or invocation at meetings. Seconded by Gordon Svenson.   CARRIED.

Tracy carried out her duties faithfully thus supplementing the coffers of the club.
