The Rotary Club of Parksville AM is taking on a BIG community project in the coming year.  Little Mountain is a beautiful pristine area of Parksville.  The view from the top of Little Mountain is one of the best you can imagine anywhere — as long as you keep your eyes on the horizon.  If you look down however, it’s not nearly as nice.

Over the years, people have used Little Mountain as a dumping ground for their garbage - everything from televisions to couches.  It is a disgraceful situation that needs to be cleaned up and prevented from continuing.  It is a challenge that our local Rotary clubs intend to address!

Photo above shows a group of Rotarians on an investigative mission to assess the extent of this project so that planning of resources can begin.  After an hour and a half of work, they had loaded a dozen heavy gauge plastic bags with half a ton of discarded wood, metal and plastic, and created a pile of larger pieces of wood, plastic and metal next to a sofa that will all go into nets when a helicopter is available to lift it all out of there.

This will be a huge clean-up effort that will involve many Rotarians and their supporters, family and friends, along with a helicopter, nets, trucks and many garbage bags.  It is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2019.  Stay tuned for updates as this project progresses.
