The Rotary Club of Parksville AM has won the District Zone Literacy Award for the second year in a row. The award was presented at the recent 95th District Conference held in Bremerton, Washington. All members of our club can be proud of this achievement, as each and every member helped in one or more of the great literacy projects initiated by our club during the past year. Thanks goes out to all our members for a job well done!

The competition this year was 'friendly but fierce' and we may have to "borrow" some ideas from the great projects sponsored by other clubs to win the award next year. The members of our club who attended the conference were subjected to some great examples of other clubs' literacy projects and also discovered that these clubs place a lot of manpower into their projects. For example, the Tacoma Rotary Club has a committee of 26 members working on their literacy projects throughout the whole year!

This literacy award is an example of what can be achieved when a dynamic and harmonious club like ours comes together for a great cause like literacy. Thanks for everyone's participation and hard work!
