Our Past President, Jo Dunn, opened the meeting in his enthusiastic ring of the Rotary bell. 21 members of our club and 2 guests were welcomed with a big smile!

Announcements:
Tania reminded the club on the project, COATS FOR KIDS, and is importance to the Kids of our community 
 
Bill requested help on November 2nd and 3rd for the next cleanup of Little Mountain. The helicopter company will be there on the 3rd.
 
Bashir advised November is Foundation Month and the club would recognize the helicopter firm, Krestel Helicopter with a Paul Harris Foundation. This would be done thru the foundation points. This helicopter firm has donated their time and fuel to the cleanup!
 
Bob Cummings advised Beachfest 2019 raised $2460.00 and thanked all the participants for their help!Q
 
The District 5020 PolioPlus Society was acknowledged by John in our previous meeting. This society is raising funds and you can do by giving $100CDN dollars and become a member. Don Luke, Diedre Michael and John O’Brien have done so. You can too!  
 
Lynn Pearson advised November is Foundation Month an dright after presented Blair Trenholme with his Paul Harris! Congrats!
 
John O reminded everyone about October 30th. Our 25th Anniversary celebration happening right here
 
Rotary Education:
Don Luke provided a talk World Polio Day. Very interesting to learn only 9 cases of polio however we as Rotary still need to keep working at it so that it does not raise its ugly head again!
 
Rotary Installation
Greg Muirhead, Career counsellor at Ballenas Secondary, was installed! Welcome Greg!
 
Guest Speaker:
Our guest speaker today was Don Pickard. Don opeates and is the propietor of Goundzero Acoustic Lounge which is located at#8, 464 Island Highway West, Parksville. Their website is gzlalounge.com. His mission is “To increase the ”FUN” factor in Parksville” an dhe is accomplishing this through music. Everyone is welcome to come and just enjoy the musicians from around Vancouver Island and some from all over North America.

Salvation Army is seeking Kettle Volunteers. Signup sheets are on each table.
 
December 11, our next meeting, will be the elections for our new officer in the upcoming year!
 
Rotary Education:
Don Luke advised Polio Type 3 and Type 2 have been eradicated but Type 1 is still active and this is the reason we as Rotary must continue the fight! Your donations go a long way to eliminating this terrible Virus!
 
Special Presentation
Steve Nikirk was thanked by our club for his club’s participation in the Little Mountain Cleanup! A big heartfelt thank you goes to the Back Country Hunters and Anglers! AND than to our surprise, he presented on behalf of the Back Country Hunters and Anglers, a cheque for $250.00 to Polio Plus!
 
Guest Speaker:
Our guest speaker today was the one and only LYNNE PEARSON!. November is Foundation Month and we were informed the Rotary Foundation is made up of four funds: The Annual Fund, the Permanent Fund, the Polio Plus Fund and the Designated Fund. You can donate to al lor any one to get a tax receipt and be an important partner in the advancement of peace throughout our wonderful world. Are club goals are:     Annual Fund   $6200 US$; Polio Plus Fund, $2,230 US$ and 100% Club member particiaption of at least $25$
 
Exciting News:  Our 25th anniversary Celebration was by donation of attendees and this wonderful function raised $1,522 Cdn$ for Polio Plus! 
We have 37 Rotarians in our club and 26 are Paul Harris fellow and of those 18 are Multiple Paul Harris Fellows.  Our club in the past 25 years, has donated $210,433 US$’s to the Rotary Foundation. Thsi si equivalent to about $279,000 Canadian Dollars! Congratulations to the club and each member!
